Daedalus Proposers Day
November 7 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Defense Sciences Office (DSO) is sponsoring a collateral SECRET Proposers Day to provide information to potential proposers on the objectives of an anticipated Program Solicitation (PS) for the Daedalus program. The Proposers Day will be held on November 7, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Executive Conference Center (4075 Wilson Blvd #300, Arlington, VA 22203). The event will not be webcast, but a collateral SECRET recording will be made available to those who were unable to participate in person after verifying eligibility to receive and store classified information. Advance registration is required for attending the Proposers Day in person. Note, all times listed in this announcement and on the registration website are Eastern Time.
The goals of the Daedalus Proposers Day are to (1) introduce the cleared research community (Proposers, Academia, and Government) to the Daedalus program vision and goals, (2) explain the solicitation mechanics and milestones of this particular effort, and (3) encourage and promote teaming arrangements among potential organizations that have the relevant expertise, facilities, and capabilities for executing a research and development program responsive to the Daedalus program goals.
The Daedalus program will develop and demonstrate critical technologies to enable sustained very low earth orbit (VLEO) operations. For the purposes of this solicitation and program, VLEO is defined as orbits less than 450 km (<1,476 kft) in altitude. Proposed research should investigate innovative approaches that enable revolutionary advances in the design and fielding of VLEO spacecraft.
